Hans Winderstein

Hans Wilhelm Gustav Winderstein ( born October 29, 1856 in Lüneburg, † 1925) was a German conductor and composer.

Life

Winderstein studied 1877-1880 at the Leipzig Conservatory and played in the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra. From 1880 to 1884 he headed Baron of Derwies private orchestra in Nice. Later he worked in Winterthur, Nuremberg and Fürth. From 1893 to 1896 Winderstein was the first chief conductor of the newly formed Kaim Orchestra, now the Munich Philharmonic. In Leipzig he founded in 1896 the Winderstein the orchestra until 1918 had stock. From 1898 to 1899 he also directed the Leipzig Academy of Music.

His compositions for orchestra include, among others the works funeral march, Valse - Caprice, and serenade. Winderstein also wrote works for violin and piano.
