Geographical Location

The Samtgemeinde Hanstedt is in the northwest of the Lüneburg Heath Nature Park and the southern part of the district of Harburg. The integrated municipality is located in the southern part of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Geographically, includes most of the velvet municipality to heathland. History

The Samtgemeinde Hanstedt is a local authority which carries out the administrative affairs of its member communities. A Lower Saxony Communal Constitution Act regulates the tasks of the velvet municipality. This includes the preparation of land use plans, fire protection by the Lower Saxony Fire Precautions Act, administered by the general public schools, construction and maintenance of municipal roads and sanitation.
