Hapoel Be'er Sheva F.C.

Hapoel Be'er Sheva (Hebrew עמותת הפועל באר שבע Amutat Be'er Sheva haPo'el ) is an Israeli football club from the city of Be'er Sheva. The club has sprung the Israeli labor movement (→ Histadrut ). The word means Hapoel workers. The first division won twice in the 1970s, the Israeli national championship and the 1997 Cup competition. Play their home games, the club from the 13,000 -seat Arthur Vasermil Stadium.

History

The club was founded in 1949, one year after the State of Israel. He was first known nationally through promotion to the first division in 1965. After the 1969 season from the club was relegated again, but got back in it again.

The mid-1970s was the golden era of the club's history. In 1975 the club won its first Israeli championship and successfully defended the title in the following season. The 1977 season ended Hapoel but nurmehr a place above the relegation zone.

In the early 1980s there was a brief re lucky streak: 1983 Hapoel finished third and reached the final of the State Cup Israel, where they lost against Hapoel Bnei Lod 3-2 on penalties. Subsequently, the club was able to once again save only just before the descent. 1988, 1994 and 1995 Hapoel finished third in the league and reached the UEFA Cup twice here. In the first attempt Hapoel failed with 1:3 and 1:2 Aris Salonika in qualifying. In the second attempt in 1995/96 Hapoel reached by two victories against KS Tirana the first round. There, the club 0:5 and 0:7 lost against FC Barcelona.

1997 Hapoel was at the end of the season second and won by a 1-0 final win against Maccabi Tel Aviv also the cup. In qualifying for the European Cup Winners' Cup Hapoel Zalgiris Vilnius beat 2-1 and 0-0. In the first round it was but then with 1:4 and 0:10 two defeats against Roda JC Kerkrade. In the same year the club was relegated.

In the 2001 /02 season the club was playing in the first division. The next season brought a first in Israeli football: for the first time with Hapoel Be'er Sheva, a first division team was beaten in the cup final against Hapoel Ramat Gan of a second division. The renewed decline in 2005 had the following season, the first Derby with Maccabi Be'er Sheva result.
