Harald Beyer (politician)

Harald Beyer ( born April 2, 1964 in Osorno ) is a Chilean politician. Following the resignation of Felipe Bulnes, he was appointed on 29 December 2011 as the education minister of his country (as of January 2012). On April 17, 2013, was removed from office.

One of his first initiatives as Minister of Education was the attempt of the reign of Augusto Pinochet from 1973 to 1990 in the textbooks as a " military regime " rather than describe how earlier than usual " military dictatorship." Due to the massive criticism, however, he had to give back the project.

On April 17, 2013, the Chilean Senate confirmed with 20 votes to 18 the impeachment of Harald Beyer. He was accused of his supervisory duty of profits within the education system is not to be pursued.
