Harald Ettl

Harald Ettl ( born December 7, 1947 in Gleisdorf) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ). He was Minister of Health from 1989 to 1992 and from 1996 to 2009 Member of the European Parliament.

Life

From 1969 to 1971, Harald Ettl technical employee of the company Karl Eybl, a carpet factory in Ebergassing. The following two years he was Secretary of the union textile, clothing, leather. From 1973 to 1984, an activity joined as General Secretary.

1989-1991 was Ettl Federal Minister of Health and Public Services, in the years 1991/1992 Federal Minister for Health, Sports and Consumer Protection. From 1984 to 2000 he was also Chairman of the union textile, clothing and leather. To this day, he has been Vice -President of the Union of Metal Textile food. From 1996 to 2009 Harald Ettl was a member of the European Parliament.

Ettl was deputy chairman of the General Accident Insurance Institution of 1978 until 1989. During the same period he was Chairman of the accident insurance committee of the Main Association of Austrian Social Security Institutions. From 1987 to 1999 Ettl was Chairman of the EU Committee of the Austrian Trade Union Federation, in the years 1995 and 1996 Member of the EU Economic and Social Committee. From 1993 to 2001 he was chairman of the Association for Consumer Information, since 2000 he is Vice - Chairman of the Union of Metal Textile, now metal - textile - food and since in 2004, Vice- President of the International Textile, Garment and Leather Workers ' Association ( ITBVL ).

Ettl is a member of the Committees on Social Affairs and Employment and in the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs in the European Parliament. He had a seat on the committee of inquiry into the collapse of the "Equitable Life Assurance Society " was, among other things, is a member of the Delegation to the EU - Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee and the Delegation for relations with the Mashreq countries.
