Harish Rawat

Harish Rawat (Hindi: हरीश रावत Haris Ravat [ hʌri ː ʃ ː rɑ ʋʌt̪ ]; * April 27, 1948 in Mohanari, Almora district ) is an Indian politician ( Congress Party ) from the state of Uttarakhand. He's since February 1, 2014 Office of the Chief Minister ( Head of Government ) Uttarakhands. Previously, he had been from 2012 to 2014 Federal Minister for Water Resources in the Cabinet Minister Manmohan Singh II.

Life

Harish Rawat was born on April 27, 1948 in the village in the district of Almora Mohanari in today's state of Uttarakhand. He completed his education with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lucknow. Rawat is married and has no children.

Harish Rawat began his political career in the youth wing of the Congress Party. In 1980 he was removed from the Almora constituency, first elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the total Indian Parliament. In the elections in 1984 and 1989, he defended his constituency, but at the election in 1991 he was defeated by the candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party. 2002 Rawat returned as Rajya Sabha Abgeordneteter of, the House of Lords, in the Indian parliament back. In the parliamentary election in 2009 he was re-elected from the constituency in the Haridwar Lok Sabha.

In the government Manmohan Singh Harish Rawat was also initially from 2009 to 2011 Minister of State for Labour and Employment, then from January 2011 to October 2012 Secretary of State for Agriculture and Food Industry and July 2012 to October 2012 Secretary of State for Parliamentary Affairs. On October 28, 2012, he was in a cabinet reshuffle its own ministerial portfolios as a Federal Minister for Water Resources.

On February 1, 2014 sparked Harish Rawat his party colleague Vijay Bahuguna as Chief Minister from ( head of government) of Uttarakhand. The replacement was done under pressure from the Congress leadership, which hoped by replacing the unpopular Bahuguna to improve their chances for the upcoming all-India parliamentary elections. Rawat was in 2012 after the election victory of the Congress Party was at the federal state elections in Uttarakhand, a candidate for the office of the Chief Minister, but a disadvantage compared Bahuguna had at that time.
