Harmonia (Band)

Harmonia is a German band that was attributed to the contemporary Krautrock, from today's perspective, however, was a representative of electronic music. It was founded in May 1973 by the cluster musicians Dieter Moebius and Hans -Joachim Roedelius and Michael Rother ( previously with Kraftwerk and Neu ).

The band has released two albums: Musik von Harmonia and De Luxe. While the first predominantly repetitive pieces offered without singing and with minimal the sequenced melodies, which have at times act as an early form of ambient or trance music, the second album was a synth- heavy melodic variant of Krautrock with singing and harmonic structures. The simply furnished lyrics reminiscent at times of cheerful nursery rhymes ( " Again and again, up and down - once on top and once under it ", etc.).

The band existed for only two years. Subsequently another musical material under the title Harmonia '76 - Tracks and Traces published, in which the British musician Brian Eno has worked.

Harmonia has influenced countless musicians. Among other things, David Bowie and the band The Human League rely on Harmonia. Brian Eno called Harmonia "the most important rock band in the world". The Red Hot Chili Peppers outed themselves as fans and asked Michael Rother Jam on their stage.

A reunion concert with the original line was held in Berlin's House of World Cultures on 27 November 2007.
