Harry Brown (writer)

Harry Brown ( born April 30, 1917 in Portland, Maine; † November 2, 1986 in Los Angeles, California ) was an American screenwriter and novelist.

Life

Harry Brown studied at Harvard University.

His debut as a screenwriter, he was in 1945 with the film The True Glory. His novel A Walk in the Sun was filmed in the same year under the title of landing at Salerno. The government took over Lewis Milestone. Until the 1960s, he worked as a screenwriter for film as well as television. 1966, his novel The Stars in Their Courses was filmed by Howard Hawks starring actor John Wayne in the title role, under the title El Dorado.

In 1950 he was the first time for an Oscar for his screenplay for the film you our comrade were nominated. Two years later he was awarded the trophy for Best Adapted Screenplay for the film A Place in the Sun.
