Harry Lachman

Harry Lachman ( born July 29, 1886 in La Salle, Illinois, † March 19, 1975 in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles ) was an American actor, designer and director.

Life

Lachman graduated from the University of Michigan and was then an illustrator for a magazine. In 1911, he migrated to Paris, where he earned a considerable reputation as a Post - Impressionist painter worked and was honored by the French Government with the Legion of Honour.

Later he worked as a stage designer in Nice during the filming of the silent movie Mare Nostrum and began to increasingly interested in film for the subject. Lachman turned as a director films in France, England, and from 1933 also in Hollywood. In 1934 he filmed the movie baby take a bow with Shirley Temple as a box office success. A few of his other films were known. Among the successful were still part of the vessel of Satan ( 1935 Original Title: Dante 's Inferno ) and a short film with Laurel and Hardy.

1943 Lachman returned to painting, in which he had made before his time with the movie name as a Post-Impressionist, back. He painted landscapes and coastal scenes preferred.
