Harry York

Harold York ( born April 16, 1974 in Ponoka, Alberta ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played during his active career, among others, for the St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League.

Career

Harry York played during his junior period 1992-1994 for the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, followed by a season with the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. In 1995 he was awarded the Most Valuable Player of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, after he had scored in 54 games of the season 1994/95 a total of 109 points scorer. In summer 1995 he played inline hockey for the Chicago Cheetahs in the Roller Hockey International. Then he signed a contract with the Nashville Knights in the East Coast Hockey League, where he was in 64 games on the ice and recorded 83 points. In the same season York also played for the Atlanta Knights of the International Hockey League and Worcester IceCats in the American Hockey League. On 1 May 1996 he signed as a free agent contract with the St. Louis Blues.

In the season 1996/97 he was set as a regular player in the NHL squad of Blues and came to 79 NHL games and scored 32 points. The following season he started in St. Louis, but he remained well below last year's levels and was transferred on 24 March 1998 in exchange for Mike Eastwood to the New York Rangers. After just seven games without a point, he was released to the Pittsburgh Penguins in November 1998. A few days later he was informed of the Penguins on the waiver list and selected by the Vancouver Canucks. In Vancouver the links Sagittarius came regularly in the seasons 1998/99 and 1999/2000 for use in 103 games and scored 33 points. The season 1999/2000 graduated from York with a game at the Syracuse Crunch in the AHL and finished the season end his active career.
