Hawraman

Hawraman (Kurdish ههورامان or Hewraman, Persian اورامان, Ōrāmān or Owrāmān ) is a region in Kurdistan.

The region in the Iraq-Iran border region consists of the mountainous country between the triangle Halabja Marivan - Paveh. It extends 50 km to the southeast of Marivan and houses several mountains over 2000 meters. The highest peak is the Kūh -e clock at 2,985 meters.

The valleys Hawramans are mainly inhabited by the Goran and Jaff Kurds. The used languages ​​are Hawrami, a dialect of Gorani, and Sorani. Hawraman is considered the center of the Gorani culture and the intersection of the heterodox and orthodox Islam in Kurdistan. Both the Naqshbandi Tariqa and the force as heretical in Islam Ahl -e Haqq are deeply rooted in Hawraman.
