Hayle Railway

Hayle Railway was a British railway company in Cornwall in England.

The Company received on 27 June 1834 concession for the construction of a 19 km long railway line of the copper mines in Gwennap Tresavean to the port of Hayle. Plus extra tracks came from about eight kilometers in length. 1837 routes between Hayle and Tresavean and the branch to the harbor Portreath were taken for freight transport in operation. 1838 was followed by the section between Carn Brea Mines and Redruth.

The sections include four cable cars ( Portreath, Angarrack, Penponds and Tresavean ). The cable car in Portreath was up to line closure on 1 April 1938 in operation. This was operated with a stationary winch while the other cable cars functioned according to the principle of equilibrium. Was operated with steam locomotives from the start.

The passenger was then adapted 1841-1843.

December 3, 1846, the company was taken over by the West Cornwall Railway. The distance between Haye and Redruth later became part of the main route between Paddington and Penzance.
