The HK MVD Balaschicha (Russian ХК МВД Балашиха ) was a Russian ice hockey club that existed from 2004 to 2010. He played until 2010 in the Continental Hockey League. The club colors were blue, white and red. He belonged to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (Russian Министерство внутренних дел Российской Федерации / Ministerstwo wnutrennich del Rossijskoi Federazii ) from its official abbreviation МВД / MWD derives the club name.

By 2006 the club wore their home games at the Ice Palace Vityaz Podolsk from before the club moved into the Balaschicha Arena.

History

2004 decided the Russian Interior Ministry to finance its own ice hockey club HK MVD Tver and founded the based on the THK Tver. 2007, the club name in HK MVD Balaschicha was changed after the team of Tver had moved to Balaschicha. Succeeded in 2005 by winning the league title in the Wysschaja league promotion to the Super League, in the same in the premiere season after qualifying for the playoffs. Here the team was defeated in a hard fought series Ak Bars Kazan.

While Balaschicha only reached the 18th place in the KHL premiere season and thus did not qualify for the playoffs, the team succeeded in the following year took second place behind SKA Saint Petersburg. Due to austerity measures of the Ministry of Interior of HK MVD 2010 merged with the financially troubled HK Dynamo Moscow for OHK Dynamo.
