HC Olomouc is a Czech ice hockey club from Olomouc.

Club history

1955 Spartak Olomouc Moravia was founded, which was able to rise after only one season in the second league. In 1965 the club took up under the new name TJ Moravia DS Olomouc. In 1974, the club was relegated from the second division from and immediately back on in the same. 1983 won Olomouc, the Czech group ( I. CNL ) of the second league, but lost in the final for promotion to the first division of the Slovak representatives HC Dukla Trenčín significantly. In the coming years the team was always on top of the second league, without being able to win it. This was achieved Olomouc 1988/89, but just in this game a year Relegation was introduced with six participating teams, of which the top two climbers were in the first league. Olomouc landed a point behind Poldi Kladno in third place. Curiously, the same thing happened in the next season 1989/90, with the difference that the HC Slovan Bratislava was better this time a point. However, this year also filed the third relegation place to climb, since the first league was increased from 12 to 14 participants. In the first three Erstligajahren Olomouc occupied at the end of each eleventh place.

During the initial season of the Czech Extraliga in 1992, renamed the HC Olomouc club made ​​for a surprise when he won the championship title. After 44 games Olomouc was in seventh place, so they went as underdogs in the playoffs. One after another turned the team around Jiří Dopita from the HC České Budějovice and the HC Kladno. In the final of HC Pardubice, which the first game was still able to win with 3:2 waited. In the second game Olomouc turned the tables and won with 1:2 and now had two home games to go. The first Olomouc won 5-2, 2-1 in the fourth game meant winning the championship. The HC Olomouc could not defend the title in the following season and was fifth, one year later only ninth.

Prior to the 1997/98 Extraliga license of HC Olomouc was sold to HC Becherovka Karlovy Vary. Instead of this, the HC Olomouc bought from HC Slezan Opava its Erstligalizenz and thus belonged after seven years in the highest again the second game class. 1999, the Erstligalizenz was sold, so that there were no more men's team in Olomouc. Two years later, the HC Olomouc acquired the license for the second division HC Uherské Hradiště and 2003, the HC Olomouc was promoted to the first league in which he considers himself ever since.
