Heinrich Bellermann

Heinrich Bellermann ( born March 10, 1832 in Berlin, † April 10, 1903 in Potsdam ) was a German musicologist and composer.

Life

Henry Beller man was the son and pupil of the musicologist Johann Friedrich Bellermann (1795-1874) and grandson of the theologian Johann Joachim Bellermann (1754-1842), to whom we owe the Prussian school system, the reintroduction of the singing lesson. He studied church music, was a singing teacher at the Berlin School " to horror monastery", 1866, at the University as the successor of Adolf Bernhard Marx Professor of Music and in 1875 member of the Royal Academy of Arts. For years he was a member of the Sing- Akademie zu Berlin.

He wrote, inter alia, " The Mensuralnoten and clock characters in the 15th and 16th centuries " (1858 ) and up to the turn of the century widespread textbook " Counterpoint " (1862 ). He composed almost entirely a cappella music ( motets, psalms, song).
