Heissler of Heitersheim (Donat John Count)

Donat Johann Graf Heißler of Heiterheim (* 1648, † September 1, 1696 in Szeged ) was an Imperial Field Marshal of the Austrian Habsburgs in the Holy Roman Empire.

Life

In the Palatinate born, it shifted from simple dragoons up to colonel of his regiment, with which he participated in 1683 at a critical point on the relief of Vienna. The dragoon regiment, which got its name ( " Heissler Dragoons " ) existed until 1918. In 1684 he beat Count Emmerich Thokoly and 1685 he conquered Waitzen. On 16 September this year, he was appointed general field sergeant. In the next campaign he defeated the inclusion of Munkács, beating the Turks devastating. Even with oven and Szeged he added them in defeats. 1688 he suggested Thokoly on Koros, conquered Passaro wit and distinguished himself before Belgrade. After he became in 1689 Field Marshal Lieutenant on January 4, he marched into Transylvania. But there left him his fortune, and he was defeated at Zernest on August 21, 1689 and came here in captivity. He came only two years later (1692 ) in exchange for Thokoly wife, Countess Ilona Zrínyi which was fixed by imperial troops, again. As soon as he was at liberty, he conquered - since February 9, 1692 General of Cavalry - on June 5, 1692 Oradea by the Turks. From 1694 to 1695 he was deputy, held the command of the main army in Hungary. After its transfer to the Elector of Saxony, he was promoted on May 12, 1696 to field marshal. In the battle of Olasch on August 26, he was severely wounded and died five days later. Coming from a humble background, he had already been raised as captain in 1678 to knighthood. Count Heissler of Heiterheim acquired the castle and took Uhercice before its beautification. The changes gave him his sight thanks to the talent of the Baroque architect Francesco Martinelli. Under the leadership of Count Baldassare Fontana knew the chapel and the twelve ballrooms with stucco decoration.

Progeny

The Count was married to Barbara Maria Countess of Heissler Heiterheim, the Csepel Island in the Danube sold to Prince Eugene of Savoy. The couple had two sons and a daughter:

  • Franz- Joseph Graf Heissler of Heiterheim acquired in 1702 spoiled Schukowitzgasse / Kalkwiesen. He sold on October 24, 1731 the Piesling lock on the Count Anton von Hartig. Franz -Joseph also had a brilliant career as a member of the privy councilor, then as a royal judge of the country ( 1732) and in 1740 Head of Moravia.
  • Bernhard Graf Heissler of Heiterheim in 1705 regimental commander of the " Heissler Dragoons " Regiment.
  • Maria Theresa, Countess of Heissler Heiterheim († August 14, 1759 ) married Maximilian Joseph Graf Mittrovsky of Mitrowitz Freiherr von Nemyssl (* May 30, 1709, † January 18, 1782 ).
