Helen Berman

Helen Berman (Hebrew הלן ברמן; born April 6, 1936 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch - Israeli artist. Her style varies from realistic impressionism and lyrical abstract expressionism. She has exhibited in Israel, Germany and the Netherlands.

Helen Berman was born in Amsterdam as Hélène Julia Cohen and is a Holocaust survivor. She was trained at the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhoven as Textilentwerferin. Berman took special courses in the liberal arts at their academy. Graduated in 1960, Berman designed fabrics for some companies. Several of her designs have received awards and publications in the trade press.

During the seventies, she studied drawing and painting at the Dutch artist Thierry Veltman. In 1978 Helen immigrated to Israel, where she continued to hone their art. During the decade of residence in Jaffa Berman was an active part of the local community of artists and a member of the Israeli Painters and Sculptors Association. Helen Berman lives and works now in Tel Mond.
