Helga Seidler

Helga Seidler, born Fischer ( * August 5, 1949 in Oberneuschönberg ), is a German track and field athlete and Olympic champion who competed for East Germany. Her biggest success is the gold medal at the XX. 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany in the 4 x 400 - meter relay ( 3:22,95 min, along with their teammates Dagmar Kaesling, Rita Kühne and Monika Zehrt ).

In 1971 she became the double European Champion: In the 400 - meter dash ( 52.1 s ) and in the 4 x 400 - meter relay ( 3:29,3 min, together with Ingelore Lohse, Rita Kühne and Monika Zehrt ). Also in 1971, she presented twice a new German record over 400 meters on: June 26, in Leipzig at 52.2 s and 12 August in Helsinki 52.1 s At the Track Championships she won the GDR in 1972 the second Place. With the 4x400 - meter relay Helga Seidler was elected in 1971 and 1972 the team classification for GDR female athlete of the year.

Helga Seidler started for the SC Karl- Marx-Stadt and trained with Hans Hirt. In her playing days, she was 1.66 m tall and weighed 55 kg. She learned Musterweberin and later became a physical education teacher. The SC Karl- Marx-Stadt she was a trainer and supervised Rico, among other songs. Later she worked in the sports program of a health insurance company.

She was honored by the Sports Federation of Münster at Sports Ball 2004 with the Sports Academy.
