Helmut Dantine

Helmut Dantine, actually Helmut Guttman ( born October 7, 1917 in Vienna, † May 2, 1982 in Beverly Hills, California ) was an American film actor and producer.

Life

Helmut Guttman was the son of Jewish parents, and educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. There he joined an anti - Nazi movement and was imprisoned for three months in a detention center. Shortly afterwards he emigrated to the United States to an acquaintance of his parents. She herself came around during the Nazi rule in concentration camps.

1940 wrote Helmut Dantine his stage name, a contract with Warner Brothers Pictures, Inc.. He initially played small roles, mainly as a performer of the German people, including turn mostly Nazis. In 1943 he took the U.S. citizenship and was drafted into the army. In 1947 he married Charlene Stafford Wrightman ( 1927-1963 ), daughter of an oil millionaire. From the joint compound showed a son. The marriage broke up after only three years and was divorced. With his second wife Niki Schenck ( b. 1934 ), daughter of Nicholas Schenck, he had two children. He died in 1982 of a heart attack.
