Helmut Förnbacher

Helmut Förnbacher ( born January 26, 1936 in Basel ) is a Swiss actor, director, screenwriter and theater director.

Förnbacher attended a trade school, where he graduated with a diploma. Before 1955 he gave his debut at the theater, he took lessons at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna. However, he left drama school early because he took his engagements at the Comedy Basel and at the Schauspielhaus Zurich. At the age of 23 years he led the comedy Basel in Sartre's The Respectful Prostitute debut as a director.

With a starring role in SOS - Glacier Pilot ( Director Victor Vicas ) Förnbacher delivered in 1958 his film debut. His most significant film role he assumed in 1966 in Peter Schamonis closed season for foxes as disgusted by social ills journalist. 1968 wrote, directed and produced the gangster film freckles, but in the past he worked mainly for television and the theater. He was the main actor in the free television series by Mark Twain and Rabe, Mushroom & thirteen chairs. In later years he worked increasingly as a television director and directed, among others, several Tatort episodes.

Förnbacher worked as an actor and director at many stages in the German-speaking and in 1974 took over the directorship of the theater " Vis a vis" in Basel and in 1975 director of the Studio of Music and Theatre and the Opera Studio at the Music Academy of Basel.

Since 1980 he runs his own theater group, the " Helmut Förnbacher Theater Company ", which resides at the Basel German railway station. He is married to actress Kristina Nel since 1975.
