Hendrick van Anthonissen

Hendrick van Anthonissen (* about 1605 probably in Amsterdam, † before 1660 in Amsterdam) was a Dutch painter who worked as a marine painter.

Life

Hendrick van Anthonissen was the son of the painter Aernt Anthonisz. called Antun and his wife Barbara Coetermans born in 1605 or 1606. This inaccurate date results from a statement in 1643 that he 37 years, and in 1647 that he was 42 years old. 1629 he lived with his father proved in Amsterdam, so this city is considered as his birthplace. In 1630 he married Judieth Flessiers, whose sister was married to the famous Marine painter Jan Porcellis since 1622.
