Henning Bürger

Henning Bürger ( born December 16, 1969 in Zeulenroda ) is a German football coach and former football player.

Career as a player

The son of a physical education teacher learned in youth football his craft at the BSG Motor Zeulenroda and FC Carl Zeiss Jena. After a stopover in the second-rate DDR -Liga in bismuth Gera, he returned to FC Carl Zeiss. For the Jena he completed 53 DDR - Oberliga games. 1989 citizens was appointed to the football Olympic team of the GDR, with whom he performed in several test games. Career as a coach

After he finished his career, he was coach of A-Juniors FC Carl Zeiss Jena. Because of sporting misery of FC Carl Zeiss, he was appointed on 22 December 2007 on the successor to the unsuccessful Valdas Ivanauskas. Under his direction, Jena reached in the spring of 2008, the semi-finals of the DFB - Pokal 2007/ 08 ( and beating out among others the reigning Cup winner 1st FC Nuremberg and the reigning champions VfB Stuttgart); However, we were unable to prevent the club again relegated after two years from the 2nd Bundesliga and as one of the founding teams of the new 3rd Liga.

Henning Bürger is married to wife Kirstin and is the father of two sons. His sons Luca and Leon are also active as a football player and played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
