Henri Baudrillart

Henri Joseph Léon Baudrillart ( born November 28, 1821 in Paris, † January 24, 1892 ) was a French economist and journalist.

Life

Baudrillart studied at the Collège Bourbon, where he was awarded in 1841 for his publication " Discours sur Voltaire " the Medal of Honor for philosophy.

After studying Baudrillart worked as a journalist; most part already for magazines such as Revue des Deux Mondes, Journal of Debats, including 1845 he was appointed to the chair of political economy at the Collège de France. This year, his work " Jean Bodin et son temps " was awarded by the Académie française, the Prix Monthyon. The following year he founded together with Jules Barni and Jules Simon Société démocratique of libres Penseurs.

1855 took over the management of the Baudrillart Radaktion of the Journal of Economistes and gave this position in 1864 again. Later, 1868-1869, he also launched the magazine Le Constitutionnel.

1863 Baudrillart member of the Académie des sciences morales et politiques and in 1881 he took a teaching position at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.

The Cardinal Alfred Baudrillart was his son.
