Henri Challan
Henri Challan ( born December 12, 1910 in Asnières- sur -Seine, † 1977) was a French composer.
Challan was in Paris pupil of Jean Gallon and Henri Busser at the Conservatoire. In 1936 he won the Prix de Rome. He taught as a professor of harmony at the Conservatoire. Among his pupils were Michel Legrand, Antoine Hervé, Henri Loche, Pierre Pincemaille, Henri -Claude Fantapié, Anne -Marie Barat Alain Louvier and Edith Lejet.
Challan composed a symphony (1942 ), a Violin Concerto and other orchestral works, a sonata for violin and piano, Suite for bassoon and piano, a string quartet, a quintet for strings and bassoon and numerous didactic works.
His twin brother René Challan was also a composer.
