Henrique da Rocha Lima

Henrique da Rocha Lima ( * November 24, 1879 in Rio de Janeiro, † April 26, 1956 ) was a Brazilian physician and pathologist.

Life

Henrique da Rocha Lima worked from 1906 to 1909 in Munich at the Department of Pathological Anatomy (now the University of Munich Hospital attached). From 1909 to 1927 he headed the Department of Pathology at the Institute of Tropical Medicine (Bernhard -Nocht- Institute ) in Hamburg.

After his return to Brazil he worked in São Paulo. Here he was involved in the founding of the Paulista School of Medicine and the University of São Paulo.

The bacterium Bartonella rochalimae was named after him in 2007.
