Henrique de Curitiba

Zbigniew Henrique Morozowicz ( born August 29, 1934 in Curitiba, Paraná, † February 18, 2008 ibid ), known as Henrique de Curitiba, was a Brazilian composer of Polish origin. The stage name Henrique de Curitiba, he chose to be known by a simple name to pronounce and more common in Brazil and abroad.

Morozowicz was born to descendants of Polish emigrants who came to Curitiba in 1873, there; his father was a dancer and choreographer, and made a name for himself at La Scala in Milan; his mother was a passable pianist, was making his musical interest aroused and encouraged. He made his 1953 graduation from the urban music and art school and worked part-time as an organist at the Cathedral of Curitiba. Morowicz occurred thereafter in the Escola Livre de Música in São Paulo in order to deepen his studies in piano with Henry Jolles and in composition with HJ Koellreuter. In 1960 he finished expanding courses in Poland.

1981 Morowicz received the " Master's Degree " (Masters degree ) Cornell University Ithaca College in New York, under the leadership of the American composer Karel Husa, and was under his pseudonym Henrique de Curitiba into an internationally renowned composers.

Morozowicz has written more than 150 works, including many pieces for choral music.
