Henry Ernest, Count of Stolberg

Heinrich Ernst Graf zu Stolberg ( born July 20, 1593 in Schwarza, † April 4, 1672 in Ilse castle ) was the founder of the older main line of the manor Stolberg.

Ernst Heinrich was the eldest son of Count Christoph Stolberg. Since 1639, he was together with his younger brother Johann Martin Graf zu Stolberg reigning over the stolbergischen possessions. On May 31, 1645 both shared ownership. Heinrich Ernst received the county of Wernigerode and the Hohnsteiner forest.

Heinrich Ernst moved the residence from Wernigerode to Ilse castle. He married on May 2, 1649 Countess Anna Elisabeth, the daughter of Count Heinrich of Stolberg Volrad, with whom he had two sons, Ernst zu Stolberg and Christian Ludwig of Stolberg.
