Henry Fok

Henry Fok ( born May 10, 1923 in Hong Kong, † October 28, 2006 in Beijing) was a Chinese entrepreneur. He was temporarily Vice President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese people and President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong ( Chamber of Commerce).

Life

After the Second World War Fok was successful in business and founded various companies. He scored particularly high profits at times of the Korean War, by bypassing the UN embargo against the People's Republic of China. He had started as a shipowner and earns later in the construction, real estate, oil industry and as a casino operator in Macau money.

Fok was from March 1993 Vice- President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese people. He was president of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and President of the Hong Kong Football Association and President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong. Together with his business partner Stanley Ho were his major casinos in Hong Kong and Macao. According to the American Forbes Magazine Fok in 2005 it was one of the richest Chinese and was listed in The World's Billionaires.

Fok was married in three marriages and had thirteen children. His son Thomas Fok was convicted in the 1990s for arms smuggling to the United States. His son Timothy Fok is the current president of the Hong Kong Football Association. Fok died of cancer.
