Henry II, Margrave of Brandenburg-Stendal

Henry II of Brandenburg, the Younger, also known as Henry the child (c. 1308; † July 1320 in Bärwalde ), of the tribe of Ascanians was as a child for a short time ( 1319-1320 ), Margrave of Brandenburg.

Life

Henry's parents were Henry I, Margrave of Brandenburg, and Agnes of Bavaria, daughter of Duke Louis II. Heinrich had three older sisters.

Henry followed eleven years old his childless deceased cousin Waldemar of Brandenburg, Margrave of Brandenburg. The Pomeranian Duke Wartislaw IV led as guardian of the business of government in Brandenburg and used these to enforce the Pomeranian interests. Then grabbed a relative of Henry Askanischer Duke Rudolf I of Saxe- Wittenberg and tried to pull the guardianship. King Louis IV, a half-brother of Henry's mother, Henry declared to be of age, but denied him the investiture of the Mark Brandenburg.

His early death in 1320 prevented independent actions of the young Marquis, meaning beyond the end of the Brandenburg line of Ascanians. King Louis IV moved Brandenburg as a completed Reichslehen and enfeoffed in 1323, bypassing the Saxon- Anhalt line of Ascanians, his son Louis with the Mark Brandenburg.
