Henry III, Duke of Münsterberg-Oels

Henry III. of Münsterberg - Oels (. .. well: Henry III of Podiebrad, Henry III of Bernstadt, Czech Jindřich III Minstrbersko - Olešnický born April 29, 1542 in oil; † April 10, 1587 ibid ) was Duke of Münsterberg and 1565 - 1574 Duke of Bernstadt. He also held the title of Count of Glatz.

Life

Henry III. came from the Münster Berger family branch of the Bohemian noble family Podiebrad. His parents were Henry II of Münsterberg and Oels and Margaret (1515-1559), daughter of Henry V of Mecklenburg -Schwerin. Henry III. was married to Magdalena Meseritsch by Lomnitz ( Mezeřicka z Lomnice ).

When his father's death in 1548 Henry was only six years old, so he was initially under the tutelage of his uncle John, who also dubbed as the Duke of Bernstadt from 1548 until his death in 1565. In the same year Henry III took over. the regency over the Duchy of Bernstadt. Due to excessive debt, he sold this together with the castle and some villages in 1574 the family of shingle.

Henry III. died without issue 1587th The Duchy of Bernstadt was repurchased in 1604 by Henry 's brother Charles II.
