Henry of Niemodlin
Heinrich von Falkenberg, also Henry of Opole - Falkenberg; * 1340; † September 14, 1382 ) was Duke of Opole from 1362/65 Duke of Falkenberg. He was a vassal of the crown of Bohemia and came from the Opole Silesian branch of the Piast dynasty.
Life
Henry's parents were Bolko II of Falkenberg and Euphemia, daughter of Duke Henry VI Breslauer.
After the death of his father 1362/65 took over Henry's eldest brother Boleslaw / Bolko the regency over the Duchy of Falkenberg at the same time for the second-born Wenzel and the youngest brother Henry.
After the older brother Boleslaw / Bolko 1367 or 1368 followed the father in death, Henry and Wenceslas ruled jointly. Wenzel died already in 1369 but also without issue. The then 16-year old Henry was thus from 1369 alone reigning Duke of Falkenberg. A short time later, he signed a contract of inheritance with his cousins , the dukes of Opole Władysław II and III Bolko. , Which was in March 1372 by the Bohemian ruler Charles IV confirmed. From 1371 Henry led a long-running dispute with the bishop Breslau Preczlaw of Pogarell to the right of residence on the episcopal castle Jauernig.
1372 Henry was married to Catherine, daughter of Margrave John Henry of Moravia. In 1373 he gave Oberglogau the Magdeburg Law, and on February 24, 1379, he donated at the local parish church of St. Bartholomew a collegiate four and nine Prelatures Kanonikaten and a Kollegiatsschule.
Henry, who preferred as his residence Oberglogau died 1382. He was in the Kollegiastskirche St. Bartholomew buried on the side of his wife, who was four years ago found their last resting place there. With him went the direct line Falkenberg Piast Opole.
