Henry Robinson Palmer

Henry Robinson Palmer (* 1795 in Hackney, † September 12, 1844 in Westminster ) was an English engineer, who is best known for his invention of a suspended monorail, which he in 1821 for a patent.

These horse-drawn railway can be considered as the predecessor of the Lartigue Monorail and the Wuppertal monorail and is the first monorail in history.

On June 25, 1825, the first monorail opened for passenger transport in Cheshunt in England, although it was actually built for the transportation of bricks. Palmer was elected in 1831 a Fellow of the Royal Society.
