Henry VII, Duke of Bavaria

Henry II of Luxembourg or Henry VII of Bavaria ( * ca 1005, † October 14, 1047 ) was Count of Luxembourg from 1025 to 1047 and Duke of Bavaria from 1042 to 1047.

He was the eldest son of Count Frederick of Luxembourg and the Irmintrud of the Wetterau; He was a nephew of the Duke Henry V of Bavaria and Empress Cunegonde. 1025 he is named as Count in the Moselle district, 1035 as governor of St. Maximin in Trier. The monastery of Echternach he also was in close contact. In February 1042 he transferred King Henry III. bypassing the electoral law of the tribe of the duchy of Bavaria, which he had previously managed even 15 years. Henry took part in the imperial campaigns against Hungary in the years 1042, 1043 and 1044. In 1047 he accompanied the emperor on a campaign against Dietrich of Holland.

He was buried in St. Maximin in Trier.
