Henry Wilcoxon

Henry Wilcoxon ( born September 8, 1905, Dominica, † March 6, 1984 in Los Angeles, California; actually Harry Frederick Wilcoxon ) was a British actor and film producer. He received international notoriety primarily for his roles in films of Cecil B. DeMille, who cast him very often.

Life

Henry Wilcoxon worked at the age of four years as an extra in silent films. His first major film role was in Cecil B. DeMille's Cleopatra film as Marc Antony with Claudette Colbert. A year later, he played the lead role in Crusaders - Richard the Lionheart with Berengaria of Navarre as Loretta Young. Despite a large budget for that time the film was a financial failure. Wilcoxon remained as a performer all his life mostly to noble figures limited. In the 1960s, he was frequently employed as a film producer.

Henry Wilcoxon was married twice; namely with the British actresses Heather Angel (1909-1986) and Joan Woodbury ( 1915-1989 ). From the second marriage produced three children. Wilcoxon died in 1984 from cancer.

Award

Henry Wilcoxon has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
