The Herbert Dröse Stadium is a sports stadium in Hanau ( Wilhelmsbad ) in the German state of Hesse. It is named after the former mayor of Hanau, Herbert Dröse named.

Location

The stadium is located on the Castle Avenue in the district of Hanau Kesselstadt. The stadium is right next to the Hanau- Wilhelmsbad train station and not far away is the State Park Wilhelmsbad.

Equipment

The stadium has a grass pitch and athletics facilities. The main grandstand comprises nearly 900 covered seats, the total capacity is specified depending on the sport 13000-16000 spectators.

Sports events

The Herbert Dröse Stadium was 1951 to 1999 hosted the home matches of FC Hanau 93 Until 1999, it was also home to the former football team Hanau Hawks. Since then, the Footballer of Hanau Hornets as well as the Player of the Hanauer SC 1960 there play their home games.

Nationally and internationally, the stadium is known primarily for American football. On 12 July 2003, the finals of the American Football World Cup took place in Herbert Dröse Stadium and in 2001 the German team won the final of the American football championship against Finland in Hanau.
