Herbert III, Count of Meaux

Heribert the Younger ( probably * 950, † 28 January 995 ) from the House of the Carolingians was Count of Meaux and Troyes from 980 to 988 He was the son of Robert of Vermandois, Count of Meaux and Troyes, and Adelaide of Burgundy.

The death of his father 967 not brought him his heir, since his uncle Heribert the old man seized the counties. It was not until his death in 980/984 allowed him to succeed.

As a partisan of King Lothar, he participated in the campaigns in Upper Lorraine part and then took over from 985 responsible for the imprisoned Count Godfrey of Verdun, which was then known as " Gottfried of prisoners ", and 987, after the accession of Hugh Capet, against the cession was released by possession.
