Herbert Nebe

Herbert Nebe ( born May 11, 1899 in Leipzig, † 13 October 1985 in Gotha ) was a German racing cyclist.

1928 Herbert won Nebe at the Road World Championships in Budapest the silver medal, ahead of the second German Bruno cloud. The 192 km long course resulted in extreme heat by the Hungarian Puszta; 16 drivers were in the start, only eight reached the target. The year before, Nebe had occupied the fifth place at the first road World Championships at the Nürburgring. In 1928 he also won the Berlin- Cottbus- Berlin, the Bavarian tour and was second in the German road championship.

About his experiences at the world road championship Nebe later reported that he had been threatened by Fritz von Opel, if he continued to drive because he from whose point of view is not the right material, but Diamond was driving. The future world champion, the Belgian Georges Ronsse, however, drove the " right material ", an Opel Torpedo wheel with freewheel hub. There was also the suspicion Ronsse and his compatriot Jules Vanhevel were in the escort vehicle of the company Opel mitgefahren or would have hung off to the car (which yes could also be an explanation for the big lead ). Because of these disputes Nebes contract was not renewed at the beginning of 1929 diamond; later he received a severance package after trial.

1930 saw Nebe in the Tour de France, but had to retire.
