Herbert Sausgruber

Herbert Sausgruber ( born July 24, 1946 in Bregenz) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP). He was governor of the federal state Vorarlberg 1997 to 2011. Sausgruber was from 1989 to 1990 the provincial government and in the years 1990 to 1997 state governor in the Vorarlberg State Government.

Education and work

Sausgruber Herbert was born on 24 July 1946 as a son of the chemist Dr. Kurt Sausgruber and his wife Luise in the capital of Vorarlberg Bregenz. Then Sausgruber grew up in his parents' home on Lake Constance in the municipality of maximum, where he attended elementary school. Following up, he moved into the lower level of the Bregenz grammar school flower street, where he attended the high school and subsequently graduated. After graduating Herbert Sausgruber enrolled first at the Leopold -Franzens- University of Innsbruck for the studies of law and the Catholic theology, in which he broke the latter more again after one year. In 1970 he received his doctorate in Innsbruck a doctorate in law.

Political career

The Austrian People's Party belongs to Sausgruber since the year 1964, when he was first in the boys People's Party and subsequently worked in the workers 'and Employees' Federation. In 1975, Herbert Sausgruber was first elected for the People's Party as a member of the municipal council in his home town of Höchst. From 1978 to 1986 he was also a council of Finance in maximum. In the state elections in Vorarlberg 1979, he was first elected to the Landtag Vorarlberg, where his first parliamentary session was held as an MP on 20 November 1979. Three years later, on 23 October 1989 Sausgruber was appointed after the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1989 by Governor Martin Purtscher as Minister for home affairs, transport policy, transport law and housing subsidies in the Vorarlberg State Government. A year later, on 9 May 1990 took over Sausgruber of his party colleague Siegfried Gasser, who joined the Office of the Bregenz mayor, the post of the country's governor, as the state Deputy Governor called in Vorarlberg. Honors and Awards

Herbert Sausgruber was awarded the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden -Württemberg in 2005. Herbert Sausgruber is married with Ilga Sausgruber and has two sons and a daughter. He lives in maximum and is Roman Catholic.
