Herbert Sausgruber
Herbert Sausgruber ( born July 24, 1946 in Bregenz) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP). He was governor of the federal state Vorarlberg 1997 to 2011. Sausgruber was from 1989 to 1990 the provincial government and in the years 1990 to 1997 state governor in the Vorarlberg State Government.
Life and work
Education and work
Sausgruber Herbert was born on 24 July 1946 as a son of the chemist Dr. Kurt Sausgruber and his wife Luise in the capital of Vorarlberg Bregenz. Then Sausgruber grew up in his parents' home on Lake Constance in the municipality of maximum, where he attended elementary school. Following up, he moved into the lower level of the Bregenz grammar school flower street, where he attended the high school and subsequently graduated. After graduating Herbert Sausgruber enrolled first at the Leopold -Franzens- University of Innsbruck for the studies of law and the Catholic theology, in which he broke the latter more again after one year. In 1970 he received his doctorate in Innsbruck a doctorate in law.
Immediately following his studies made Sausgruber his military service at the 6th Brigade of the Austrian Armed Forces hunters in Absam and Innsbruck from. In the years 1971 and 1972, he completed then the judicial year at the District Court and the Provincial Court Bregenz Feldkirch. In 1972 he entered the State service, where he was first held various positions in the district headquarters Bludenz, Feldkirch and Bregenz. In the BH Bregenz he was last employed as manager of the youth office. From 1975 he was professionally active at the Office of the Provincial Government of Vorarlberg.
Political career
The Austrian People's Party belongs to Sausgruber since the year 1964, when he was first in the boys People's Party and subsequently worked in the workers 'and Employees' Federation. In 1975, Herbert Sausgruber was first elected for the People's Party as a member of the municipal council in his home town of Höchst. From 1978 to 1986 he was also a council of Finance in maximum. In the state elections in Vorarlberg 1979, he was first elected to the Landtag Vorarlberg, where his first parliamentary session was held as an MP on 20 November 1979. As deputy followed the Sausgruber appointed to the state government Konrad Blank according to its place. Subsequently, he was from 1981 to 1989 club chairman of the Austrian People's Party faction in the parliament. On October 18, 1986, he was also elected state party chairman of the ÖVP Vorarlberg.
Three years later, on 23 October 1989 Sausgruber was appointed after the state elections in Vorarlberg in 1989 by Governor Martin Purtscher as Minister for home affairs, transport policy, transport law and housing subsidies in the Vorarlberg State Government. A year later, on 9 May 1990 took over Sausgruber of his party colleague Siegfried Gasser, who joined the Office of the Bregenz mayor, the post of the country's governor, as the state Deputy Governor called in Vorarlberg. As such, it came under the departments of Internal Affairs, Legislation, fire police, auxiliary and emergency services, disaster management and housing subsidies, from 1994, financial matters, asset management, financial management control. Finally, the deputies of the Vorarlberg Landtag elected him on 2 April 1997, succeeding Mr. Purtscher the fourth Governor of Vorarlberg after the Second World War.
On October 7, 2011 Sausgruber announced that he plans to resign his office as governor in early December 2011. In a special session of the Vorarlberg Landtag December 7, 2011 Sausgruber was finally adopted solemn and at the same time his successor, the former state governor Markus Wallner chosen.
Honors and Awards
Herbert Sausgruber was awarded the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden -Württemberg in 2005. In addition Sausgruber virtue of his office as Governor of the carrier Honour the Land of Vorarlberg in gold since 1997 and an honorary citizen of his home town High since 2004. 2008 he was appointed honorary senator of the University of Innsbruck. In 2012 he was awarded the Grand Decoration of Honour of the Province of Upper Austria and the Great Golden Medal for Service to the City of Vienna with the star.
Family and Private
Herbert Sausgruber is married with Ilga Sausgruber and has two sons and a daughter. He lives in maximum and is Roman Catholic.
Sausgruber is a member of the Catholic middle school connection KMV Kuster Mountain Bregenz in MKV. He has been study days original member of the Catholic Student Association AKV Tirolia Innsbruck ÖKV.
