Herbert Tenzer

Herbert Tenzer ( born November 1, 1905 in New York City; † March 24, 1993 in Lawrence, New York ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1965 and 1969 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Herbert Tenzer was born in the beginning of the 20th century in New York City. He attended public schools and graduated in 1927 at the New York University Law School. His admission to the bar he received in 1929 and then began practicing in the same year. On January 1, 1937, he founded and was senior partner in a law firm in New York City. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1964, Tenzer was in the fifth electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Frank J. Becker on January 4, 1965. After a successful re-election he resigned in 1968 to run again and was eliminated after 3 January 1969 the Congress of. He then worked as a trustee at Yeshiva University. Between 1969 and 1983 he chaired the Board of Ethics of Nassau County. In addition, Tenzer 1975 was vice chairman of the New York State Special Advisory Committee on Medical Malpractice and between 1977 and 1983 Chairman of the New York State Board of Social Welfare. He lived until his death on 24 March 1993 in Lawrence.
