Hercules (crater)

70.53

Hercules is a lunar impact crater on the northeast front of the southeastern edge of Mare Frigoris. It is located west of the even larger crater Atlas, its soil, in contrast to Atlas to no fault structures, but - apart from the secondary craters Hercules G - largely flat. The wall is terraced on several occasions.

The crater was founded in 1935, officially named by the IAU by Heracles, the hero of Greek mythology.
