Life and work

Toni floor home led him in 1946 into the sculpture. 1947 was followed by training as a stonemason in the Cologne Cathedral workshop. At the same time, with Professors Wolfgang Wallner and Ludwig Gies, he went on to study sculpture at the Cologne factory schools. In 1952, he was a master student of Gies, who is famous for his art of coin cutting. 1954 opened Heribert Calleen own studio in Cologne and at the same time took over the office of a tomb counselors at the Cologne cemetery administration, a position he held until 1987.

Medals and plaques he cuts in the technique of sunken reliefs, in which representation and image carriers are level. He is committed to the school by Ludwig Gies, who has this technique to high flower to mature.

Heribert Calleen gives his figurative representations of calm dignity and human warmth. His characters always act out of an inner peace. He waives any expressivity and also drastic.

Natural forms he reduced to the minimum necessary for the notification minimum. Wherever typeface and presentation come together, Heribert Calleen emphasizes balance. His writing is marked by a keen sense of order and of sovereign dealing with the characters - from its high art of writing mastery evidenced by numerous grave stelae. This includes the grave stone for the glass painter Georg Meister husband and family, Heribert Calleen has created together with his father Georg Meister man.

Heribert Calleen has two children: the journalist and social media expert Florine Calleen well as art historians, historians, and Georg- Meistermann executor Dr. Justinus Maria Calleen.
