Hermann de Pourtalès

Hermann Alexander de Pourtàles ( born March 31, 1847 in Neuchâtel, † November 28, 1904 in Geneva) was a Swiss sailor. He belonged to the family of Pourtàles that had been collected by the Prussian king the title of count ( the Canton of Neuchâtel was until 1857 a Prussian principality ).

At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 he formed with his second wife Hélène de Pourtàles and his nephew Bernard de Pourtàles the crew of the boat Lérina, which took in the class of boat to 2 tons. They won the first race on the Seine and reached in the second, separately evaluated race for second place.

A son from his first marriage to Marguerite Marcet is the writer Guy de Pourtàles.
