Hermann Wlach

Hermann Wlach ( born August 11, 1884 in Vienna, † 28 January 1962 in Zollikon ) was an Austrian actor.

Life

He attended from 1902 to 1904 the Vienna Conservatory in 1904 and entered his first engagement at the Schiller Theater in Berlin. In 1906 he moved to the Hebbel-Theater and 1910 at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg.

From 1913 to 1916 were the Little Theatre, the Lessing Theatre and the German theater for its sites of action in Berlin. From 1916 to 1924 Wlach was again at the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg active, 1925, he was Francesco Sioli senior director at the National Theatre Mannheim. In 1933 he came to the Schauspielhaus Zurich, where he has belonged to the ensemble. One of his most important roles was the title character in Nathan the Wise.

From 1915 to 1922 Wlach starred in many silent films, then he was but rarely used. One of his last roles he took on in 1931 when he represented the German Foreign Secretary Gottlieb von Jagow in the historical drama in 1914, the last days before the conflagration.
