Hernando's Hideaway

Hernando's Hideaway is a tango, which was written by Richard Adler and Jerry Ross in 1954 for the musical The Pajama Game. In the original version of the musical and the musical film Picnic in pajamas the song was sung by Carol Haney.

The song was often gecovert, a successful version is by Archie Bleyer, who thus reached the second place on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1954. A version of The Johnston Brothers reached number 1 in the UK charts. The instrumental part of the song was in the film Snatch - used pigs and diamonds. Ella Fitzgerald took a live version of the piece at Carnegie Hall.

A German version under the title Fernando Cabaret with a text by Klaus Günter Neumann was sung in 1956 by Bruce Low.
