Heron Quays DLR station

Heron Quays is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR ) in the London Borough London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is located in the Travelcard Zone 2 and opens up the southern part of the extended business district Canary Wharf. The station is elevated and located in the middle of an office tower. From here an underground shopping center can be achieved. About two -minute walk ( through the mall or on the street ), the metro station Canary Wharf on the Jubilee Line.

In the start-up of basic network on August 31, 1987, the station consisted of two short side platforms and was partially right about the former South Dock harbor. After a car bomb the IRA had exploded on February 9, 1996 near the adjacent South Quay station, the entire route had to be closed south of Heron Quays. A few weeks later, on April 16, the operation could be resumed.

The station soon proved too small and had to be extended. It was closed on 30 September 2001, approximately 200 meters to the north rebuilt at its present location and re-opened on 18 December 2002.
