Héry-sur-Alby

Héry -sur- Alby is a village in the French department of Haute- Savoie department in the Rhône-Alpes region.

Geography

Héry -sur- Alby is located at 600 m above sea level. M., about 15 km southwest of the town of Annecy (air line). The farming village extends a scenic location in the foothills west of the Semnoz, in Albanais, on a slightly inclined to the east slope above the valley of Chéran.

The area of ​​7.33 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Albanais. The eastern boundary runs along the Chéran, the cut here flows in a V-shaped valley with several turns from south to north. Along the river there are partially vertically sloping rock walls. From Chéran, the municipality's area extends westward over a relatively steep slope down to the broad ridge of Héry that separates the Chéran valley from the valley of Albanais between Rumilly and Aix -les- Bains. At the top is at 702 m above sea level. M. is achieved the highest elevation of Héry -sur- Alby. The slopes are broken by the small valley of small tributaries of Chéran.

To Héry -sur- Alby next to the village itself includes several hamlets settlements and farmsteads, including:

  • Chez les Galme (600 m above sea level. M. ) on the ridge of Héry
  • Les Plats (580 m above sea level. M. ) on the upper west slope of Chéran
  • Molna (500 m above sea level. M. ) on a ridge above the Chéran

Neighboring communities of Héry -sur- Alby Alby- sur- Chéran are in the north, and Mûres Gruffy in the east, the south and Cusy Chainaz -les- Frasses and Saint- Félix in the West.

History

Is first mentioned Héry -sur- Alby in the 9th century under the name Ariacum. The name goes back to the Gallo-Roman family names Arius and means something like estate of Arius. In 1860 Héry -sur- Alby was separated from the Canton Albens in the department of Savoie and the newly created Canton Alby- sur- Chéran in the Haute- Savoie incorporated.

Attractions

The parish church of Notre -Dame was built in 1836 in neo-classical style, while the bell tower dates from the earlier building from the 18th century.

Population

With 914 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Héry -sur- Alby is one of the small towns in the Haute-Savoie region. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the population steadily increased due to high levels of emigration from (1861 were still 755 residents counted in Héry -sur- Alby ). Since the mid- 1970s, however, a striking increase in population was recorded thanks to the beautiful residential area again.

Economy and infrastructure

Héry -sur- Alby was until well into the 20th century a predominantly coined by farming village. In addition, there are now several companies of local small businesses. Meanwhile, the village has developed into a residential community. Many workers are commuters who engage in the larger towns in the area as well as in space Annecy and Chambéry their work.

The place is a good infrastructure. It is located on a secondary road that leads from Rumilly after Lescheraines in the massif of the Wallows. Further road links exist with Saint- Félix and Chainaz -les- Frasses. The nearest links to the A41 motorway is located at a distance of about 3 km.
