Hideo Hiraoka
Hideo Hiraoka (Japanese平 冈 秀 夫, Hiraoka Hideo, born January 14, 1954 in Iwakuni, Yamaguchi Prefecture) is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party, in which he leads a faction together with Shoichi Kondō that Hiraoka - Kondō group. He was until 2012 a deputy in Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament, for the 2nd constituency Yamaguchi and Minister of Justice.
Hiraoka graduated in 1976 graduated from the Law Faculty of the University of Tokyo and officer was then in the Ministry of Finance. In his official career, he worked among others in the Japanese Embassy in India, in Legislativbüro of the Cabinet and the national tax authorities, government agencies and offices of the Ministry of Finance, he held several department head positions. In 1998, he had to register as a lawyer and took shortly afterwards on a political career: in 1999 he ran for mayor in Iwakuni, but lost Katusuke Ihara, a former official of the Ministry of Labour.
When Shūgiin - election in 2000 was a candidate for the Democratic Party Hiraoka in the constituency Yamaguchi 2 and ex- Economy Minister Satō Shinji could (LDP ) exceed by about 7,000 votes. In 2005, he lost the constituency short of Yoshihiko Fukuda (LDP ), but was re-elected on the proportional representation block Chūgoku. As Fukuda resigned in 2008 for his (successful ) candidacy for the mayoral election in Iwakuni, Hiraoka won the by-election in his constituency back and was able to defend him in the 2009 regular election. 2002 and 2006 he was a member of the " next cabinet ", the shadow cabinet of the Democratic Party, several times he led the Vice Presidency in key party committees.
In June 2010, Hiraoka was the Cabinet Secretary Kan ( fukudaijin ) in the Cabinet Office, then in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. In September 2011 he was appointed as Minister of Justice in the Cabinet Noda replaced in January 2012 a reshuffle by Toshio Ogawa.
