Iwakuni, Yamaguchi

Iwakuni (Japanese岩 国 市, -shi) is a city located in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.

Location

By the old city flows in a north-south direction of the Nishiki River. To the west is the KiKKo Park (吉香公 园KiKKo - kōen ) with the samurai quarter, which is by the Kintaikyo bridge (锦 帯 桥Kintaikyo kyō ) to the old town located west of it.

History

The city was formerly the capital of the fief ( han ) Iwakuni. During the Edo period, here the Kikkawa family had their seat The income of the fief was increased to 60,000 koku during their rule of the Shogun of 30,000 koku.
