Hilmi Güler

Mehmet Hilmi Güler ( born July 15, 1949 in Ordu ) is a Turkish scientist, politician and former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

He graduated from the Technical University of the Middle East ( ODTÜ ) ( metallurgy engineering) in Ankara, where he wrote his doctoral thesis and was at the ÖDTÜ worked as an assistant and faculty in engineering Engineering. Güler was in the Turkish aviation and aerospace group TUSAS employed as a project engineer and group leader. He was vice president of the Research Institute of Science and Technology of Turkey ( TÜBİTAK ), Director-General of the Council of the machinery and chemical industry, general director of Etibank, Upper State Secretary of Ministerpräsidialbüros, board member of the steel company Erdemir and board member of the Istanbul Natural Gas Distribution company IGDAS.

Hilmi Güler is a founding member of the Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi ( AKP). Güler was a deputy for the province of Ordu in the 22nd legislative period (October 14, 2002 to July 22, 2007 ) of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. In the 58th Government (Cabinet Gul ) and in the 59th Government ( I. Erdogan cabinet ), he was Minister of Energy and Natural Resources.

Güler, 2007 was a member of the Second Cabinet of the AKP government under Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he was Minister of Energy and Natural Resources for the third time in a row since 29 August. On May 1, 2009, he handed in a comprehensive reshuffle his office at his party colleague Taner Yıldız.

Hilmi Güler speaks very good English, is married and father of two children.
