Himesháza

Himesháza ( German: Nimmersch, Croatian Imes ) is a Hungarian town in Baranya county. It belongs to the small area of ​​Mohács.

Location

Himesháza lies in a valley of Branauer hill country. Larger towns in the area are Pécsvárad and Mohács.

History

The place has probably existed since the 10th century and is first mentioned in 1333. Towards the end of the 17th century it was almost extinct. The first German colonists appear around the year 1722. They were called by the then lord, the Bishop of Pécs Count Wilhelmus Franciscus Freiherr von Nesselrod ( 1703-1732 ) to Himesháza. It is assumed that settled around 120 farming families. After the Steuerkonskriptionen came in the period 1721-1752 a total of 907 settlers in the village. The vast majority of Germans came from the Bishopric of Fulda, hence comes the name of the inhabitants as " Stifolder " or " Stifoller ".
